The border with Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro will enable greater movement of people and goods in cross-border traffic in the future, as well as development opportunities in cross-border cooperation.
The Belgrade-Bar railway line, the revitalisation and modernisation of which is underway, runs through the territory of the Zlatibor administrative district.
The conversion of Ponikve Airport from military to civil use would enable the use of its potential for air transport, both passenger and cargo.
In order to make the best use of the geostrategic location, activities are also planned on the main first-order state roads that already pass through the territory of the administrative district or are planned to be built. These are:
branch of the state road IA, number A2 (corridor 11) towards the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina and on the section Požega – Užice – Kotroman/ Vardište
state road IB, No. 29, section Sjenica – Prijepolje – Jabuka in the direction of the border with Montenegro
state road IB order, number 28, section Užice – Bajina Bašta – Ljubovija and section Sušica – Krema – Vardište
state road IB series number 21, section Valjevo – Kosjerić – Požega – Arilje
state road IB row number 23, section Ovčar Banja – Požega – Užice – Prijepolje – Gostun
state road IA, number A2 – construction of the motorway (corridor 11) part of the route Belgrade – Čačak – Požega – Arilje – Ivanjica – Sjenica – Boljare (border with Montenegro)
With Montenegro there are two road and one railway border crossing: on the Prijepolje – Pljevlja road there is the Jabuka road border crossing, on the Prijepolje – Bijelo Polje road there is the Gostun road border crossing (both crossings are on the territory of Prijepolje municipality), and on the Belgrade – At least railway line there is a Kolovrat – Vrbnica – Bijelo Polje railway border crossing (on the territory of Priboj municipality). To Bosnia and Herzegovina there are three road border crossings: Kotroman on the territory of the town of Užice, Bajina Bašta (for passenger traffic only) and Uvac on the territory of the municipality of Priboj.
Infrastructure development will facilitate the establishment and development of the planned industrial zones and parks in Užice, Požega, Prijepolje and Priboj, which should enable a more even regional development.
All these activities should lead to a significant increase in the competitiveness of this region and the development of cross-border cooperation as well as the sustainable use of the natural and cultural-historical heritage.
